The first historical mention of Muhammad as the prophet founder of Islam is on a coin minted in 685 in Bishapur, Persia, sixty years after his death. From this point On, there are several more mentions, on coins minted by Abd al-Malik, on epigraphy, and on papyri. Why is there no evidence of Muharnmad as prophet until60 years after his death and then suddenly several mentions?
